Black Keys Unveil Hip-Hop Project with RZA, Q-Tip, Mos Def, Ol' Dirty Bastard

Okay, get ready for a lot of the word "black" in this here news item. An album to be released on Black Friday (November 27) will feature the Black Keys with some of the biggest names in rap in a new project called Blakroc.

A teaser video at the newly launched Blakroc website features some footage of the Ohio duo jamming with the likes of Mos Def, Jim Jones, RZA, Raekwon, Billy Danze and more. The album will also feature such hip-hop artists as Pharoah Monch, NOE, Ludacris, Q-Tip and the late Ol' Dirty Bastard, according to Billboard.

The project was spearheaded by Jones who tweeted tweeted about it on his Twitter page in early June. According to Done Waiting, the album will feature 11 songs and will be released by a label started by hip-hop vet Dame (Damon) Dash and the Black Keys' management group. The recording sessions began in Brooklyn earlier this summer.

Meanwhile, the Black Keys have also begun work on their new album, despite drummer Patrick Carney hitting the road starting October 8 with his side-project, Drummer and singer/guitarist Dan Auerbach starting a solo tour on October 4.
