Billy Talent Return For Album Number III

BY Keith CarmanPublished Apr 23, 2009

Keeping the name-game simple, Toronto, ON-based hard rockers Billy Talenthave opted to maintain the Roman Numeral thing with their latest opus. Titled III, the album is the long-awaited follow-up to sophomore effort II, which was released way back in 2006.

If you want to get technical though, this is actually the band's fourth full-length album. They'd probably like to forget it but we won't let them: in 1999, Billy Talent were known as Pezz. They issued an independent effort dubbed Watoosh! that obviously made massive ripples in the state of Canadian music.

As for III though, the album is scheduled to be released once again by Warner Music on July 2. It was recorded by the incredibly in-vogue Brendan O'Brien (AC/DC, Stone Temple Pilots, Mastodon) at Henson Recording Studios in Los Angeles, CA and Atlanta, GA's Southern Tracks. As if you didn't know, the band's formative line-up of vocalist Benjamin Kowalewicz, guitarist Ian D'Sa, bassist Jonathan Gallant and drummer Aaron Solowoniuk remains intact.

In honour of the release, a websited dedicated to the affair, www.billytalent3.com, was launched on April 20, 2009, allowing fans an inside look at its creation via photos, blogs and videos.

Surely you can hear some of the album's tracks as the band perform at Edgefest in Toronto on June 20 and on select Canadian dates with Rancid and Rise Against this summer.
