The Smashing Pumpkins came through Toronto this week, although tourmates Jane's Addiction were unable to join them due to injury. In addition to performing at the Scotiabank Centre on Monday (October 24), frontman Billy Corgan found the time to take in the local sights. Specifically, he hit up the city's Shortstack Records to buy some vinyl and sign a copy of 1993's Siamese Dream.

In a post on Instagram, the record store called Corgan a "returning customer," suggesting that he sought out the store at 1006 Dundas Street West specifically rather than simply wandering in off the street.

In an email to Exclaim!, Shortstack owner Cal MacLean noted that Corgan spent some time in the store and chatted with staff. He bought six albums, including ones by T. Rex, Tom Paxton and Don Cherry (the jazz artist, not to be confused with the hockey announcer).

The Smashing Pumpkins play Montreal tonight, Quebec City tomorrow and Vancouver on November 11. Local record store owners might want to keep a lookout in case he stops by.
