Billy Corgan Has Ditched the William Patrick Corgan Moniker

He's tweaked the album art for his 'Ogilala' LP and reuploaded it to streaming services

We've been making a running joke that Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan has had trouble convincing people to call him William Patrick Corgan. There's a chance he's been reading Exclaim! and taking it all to heart. After all, the alt-rock auteur has scrubbed the revamped moniker from all streaming services, uploading a new version of his solo album in the process.

On Apple Music, Spotify and Tidal, a search for "William Patrick Corgan" will yield no results (save for standalone singles "Aeronaut" and "The Spaniards"). Instead, his Ogilala solo album has been added to the "Billy Corgan" section.

Further, as Alternative Nation reports, the performer has tweaked the album art, removing the big, garish "WPC" that previously reminded us to try and call him William instead of Billy. The new, more minimal album art is available above.

It's probably just a coincidence, but if this does prove that Billy Corgan is reading Exclaim!, then Billy, it's time for you to get the original Smashing Pumpkins lineup back together. We're ready.
