Billy Corgan Developing AMC TV Show about His Wrestling Company

Smashing Pumpkins are gearing up for a couple of new albums in 2015, but that doesn't mean that tea shop-owning songwriter Billy Corgan will stop pursuing his non-musical pet projects. The latest of these is an AMC television show that will focus on Corgan's Resistance Pro wrestling company.

According to Variety [via Pitchfork], the U.S. network is planning an as-yet-untitled program about the wrestling federation that Corgan co-launched in 2011. The alt-rock star is an executive producer on the project, which is described like this:

Smashing Pumpkins lead singer Billy Corgan pulls back the curtains on the pro-wrestling world as he takes over creative direction for the independent wrestling company Resistance Pro.

The show is currently in development and there's no projected date as to when it might be aired, so it's possible that it won't come to fruition. In any case, this is something for Smashing Pumpkins fans to keep their eye on.

Corgan co-founded Resistance Pro in Chicago with brothers Jacques and Gabe Baron. It emphasizes concussion awareness and the health of its wrestlers. Its most recent event was this past Friday (March 21).
