Big Thief Announce New Album 'Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe in You'

They've confirmed the release date for their new double album

Big Thief had already promised that a new double LP will be arriving next year. Now, they've confirmed that the album Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe in You will arrive on February 11, and they've shared the new single "Time Escaping."

The band completed 45 songs across four different recording sessions, eventually whittling that down to a 20-song tracklist. This includes recent singles "Change," "Certainty," "Little Things" and "Sparrow."

Sessions took place in Upstate New York (with Sam Evian), Topanga Canyon, CA (with Shawn Everett), the Colorado Rockies (with returning collaborator Dom Monks) and Tucson, AZ (with Scott McMicken, plus guest violinist Mat Davidson of Twain). The sessions apparently vary significantly in terms of fidelity and style.

Singer-guitarist Adrianne Lenker said in a statement, "One of the things that bonds us together as a band is pure magic. I think we all have the same guide and none of us have ever spoken what it is because we couldn't name it, but somehow, we are all going for the same thing, and when we hit it… we all know it's it, but none of us to this day, or maybe ever, will be able to articulate in words what the 'it' is. Something about it is magic to me."
