Beth Ditto Turns Up the Heat in Katy Perry Scrap, Promotion for New Gossip Album Now in Full Swing

Nothing works better than a little shit-disturbing to pump up the release of a new album. Cue Gossip singer Beth Ditto calling out pop sensation Katy Perry for her flippant version of woman-on-woman lip-locking.

Ditto recently elaborated to Spinner about her hatred of Perry's smash single "I Kissed a Girl" after Perry said she was "not impressed" by some of Ditto's comments in Attitude Magazine.

"Honestly, I could care less if Katy Perry's impressed with me," Ditto told Spinner. "To her, ["I Kissed a Girl"] is just this party song. But as a gay person, it's like, 'Oh, of course this straight person singing about kissing a girl goes straight to Top 40 and people buy this record. Who can give a fuck about real gay people?'"

This all started when Ditto hilariously referred to Perry as a "boner dyke" - a girl who kisses other girls to turn on guys. Ditto now admits Gossip drummer Hannah Blilie coined the term, but added with a smirk, "I feel guilty because it is such a funny expression and Hannah didn't get the credit for it. But I don't feel differently than Hannah."

While Ditto continues to take Katy Perry and her ilk to task, you can click here for a full stream of the Gossip's new, Rick Rubin-produced album, Music for Men, due physically on October 6 on Columbia Records.
