"Don't Wanna Be European"

Toronto vocalist/songwriter Robin Dann is gearing up to deliver a full-length LP as Bernice for Arts & Crafts. Ahead of its arrival, Dann has shared a second single from the effort titled "Don't Wanna Be European."

A press release reveals that the song was written during Dann's stay at the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity. In referencing the single's colourful artwork, which can be seen above, Dann said that the song "is written from the perspective of a bear. Sitting up in a tree somewhere, she sees that she's about to be shot down, and both wonders why her life can't be spared, and also tries to accept her fate."

Dann added: "I wrote the song after a cub had to be removed from campus the day I arrived. We layered a melodyne'd version of my voice as a man underneath my own and also braided in some very slowed-down vaporwave tracks from YouTube weather channel videos. I think both help to describe the woozy confusion that the bear feels."
