While front-man Stuart Murdoch has been busy with his arguably inferior project God Help the Girl, fans have long been awaiting the return of Belle and Sebastian. We sort of lost it when we first caught wind that they'd be recording a new album this year, and when the rumours were floating around that they might be returning to North America, we could barely contain ourselves. Now that they've proven true, we're listening to The Boy With the Arab Strap and sucking our thumbs in anticipation.
This fall, the twee-as-fuck chamber pop collective will return to North America for their first tour since 2006. And when we say North America, we really mean it. In the span of 18 days, the band will play shows in the United States, Mexico and a single Canadian show at Toronto's Massey Hall on October 12.
In addition to the tour plans, B&S fans can rejoice with the fact that their new record is nearly complete. As we previously reported, the band have been working on their as-yet-untitled new release. A recent news post on the band's site says that they're now "in the final stages of recording the album." In other words, the forecast is likely that it will be released this year.
Tour dates:
9/30 Brooklyn, NY - Williamsburg Waterfront
10/3 Los Angeles, CA - Hollywood Palladium
10/7 Guadalajara, Mexico - Teatro Estudio Cavaret
10/9 Mexico City, Mexico - TBA
10/11 Chicago, IL - Chicago Theatre tickets
10/12 Toronto, ON - Massey Hall
10/14 Washington, DC - DAR Constitution Hall tickets
10/15 Boston, MA - Wang Theatre tickets
10/17 San Francisco, CA - TBA
