Belle Game Team Up with Kevin Drew for Sophomore Album on Arts & Crafts
Vancouver indie crew Belle Game are looking to move onwards and upwards, revealing that they have inked a new label deal with Arts & Crafts for their sophomore album.

Titled Fear/Nothing, the full-length — the band's first since 2013's Ritual Tradition Habit — will arrive via their new label home on September 8.

The new LP was produced by Dave Hamelin (the Stills) and executive produced by Broken Social Scene's Kevin Drew, who also lends backing vocals to the recordings.

A press release describes the new album like this:

Fear/Nothing combines the sweeping synth-driven dream pop of the Cocteau Twins with confident vocal-driven melodies of genre-defying artists like Empress Of and Jessy Lanza. From hushed anthems to distorted instrumentals, Belle Game teeters between two worlds. Whatever the mood, it's always a celebration of the hard times and a refusal of fear.

For a taste of what's in store, Belle Game (who have indeed now ditched the "the" from their name) have shared the record's first single "Spirit," which indeed features backing vocals from Drew.

In a statement, Belle Game singer Andrea Lo said, "'Spirit' was created through the relinquishing of logic, allowing the music to take form through feeling with no end goal as opposed to structural forms. It's the result of letting ourselves be playful, youthful and in joy, having no consequence or imposed judgment for what we created in that moment."
