In addition to delivering an upcoming self-titled LP, Beijing-based quartet Chui Wan have revealed plans to bring their face-melting psych sounds to stages across North America this spring.
A press release confirms that the group will be setting course for North America at the beginning of May, having booked a number of club and festival dates. This includes a co-headlining spot at Austin Psych Fest, and a handful of Canadian appearances. Linking it all together, the band's May 26 gig at Vancouver Biltmore Cabaret is an after party for fellow Psych Fest performers Tame Impala's outdoor gig earlier in the evening.
There are also Canadian dates booked in Winnipeg, Saskatoon, Calgary and Edmonton. You'll find all of the tour info down below.
Chui Wan are gearing up to release their self-titled set May 5 via Maybe Mars. A press release posits that the band's multi-instrumental approach steers away from traditional melody in favour of "minimal drone or maximal sonic layerings."
You'll find the new album's slow-burning psych piece "The Sound of Wilderness," which features a mix of rippling guitar work and cloudy keyboard tones, beneath the dates.
