Behemoth Unveil 'The Satanist' Details, Premiere New Video

It looks as if Bible-tearing black metal vets Behemoth's new "Blow Your Trumpets Gabriel" 12-inch EP has been delayed slightly instead of arriving today (December 4), but the Polish band are making it up to fans by unfurling all the details behind their upcoming The Satanist. The LP is now set to arrive on February 4 in North America through Metal Blade and a day earlier overseas via Nuclear Blast.

Today, Behemoth unveiled the beautiful but creepy, horn-adorned artwork that serves as the cover, and you can see the piece up above. We now also know that the set features nine songs altogether and kicks off with "Blow Your Trumpets Gabriel." Other arcane song titles include "Ora Pro Nobis Lucifer," "In the Absence ov Light" and "O Father O Satan O Sun!"

Pre-orders for the LP are being taken over here. While you can pick up a regular edition of the set on CD, double LP and digitally, the pre-orders also include a deluxe collectors bundle. In that you'll find a two-CD edition featuring The Satanist on one disc and a supplementary DVD featuring a live concert and a documentary on the making of the album, the double LP, a T-shirt, a "supersize poster flag," a black wooden inverted rosary cross, a metal pin, and most sacriliciously, "black communion waffles." This all comes housed in a black 10-inch box, which makes us think the vinyl may be packaged separately.

Behemoth's "Blow Your Trumpets Gabriel" 12-inch EP didn't end up coming out today, but pre-orders for the release, which includes non-album track "If I Were Cain" and a cover of Polish post-punk group Siekiera's "Ludzie Wschodu," are still being taken over here.

Meanwhile, "Blow Your Trumpets Gabriel" is available now as a single download on iTunes, and Behemoth have also just issued a video in support of the song. The Grupa 13-produced black and white clip is full of sacrificial lambs, skull-crushing rituals, naked women barfing up blood, and thorny metamorphoses. Needless to say, unless you happen to be working beneath a giant portrait of Anton Lavey, it's NSFW.

"Yes, we took all the time in the world to complete this project. And we did everything that was humanely possible to accurately express our vision. We crossed the Rubicon," frontman/guitarist Nergal said of the video in a statement. "'Blow Your Trumpets Gabriel' is an ecstatic manifest of our unrestrained artistic will, where we dare to reach out beyond the limitations of the heavy metal genre. And it's only the beginning…"
