Beastie Boy Adam Yauch Diagnosed with Cancer; Band Forced to Cancel Tour, Delay Album Release

With the release of their Hot Sauce Committee Part 1 just around the corner, along with a bevy of upcoming tour dates, the Beastie Boys have had to postpone everything following the tragic news that Adam "MCA" Yauch has been diagnosed with a cancerous tumour.

Fortunately, the tumour, which is located in his left salivary gland, was discovered early, and it's likely that Yauch will make a full recovery. However, it will require that he has surgery and take some weeks off to recover. As a result, the band have cancelled all the Beasties' upcoming tour dates and the album release will also be pushed back.

In a video statement released to the band's website, Yauch explained, "I just need to take a little time to get this in check, and then we'll release the record and play some shows. It's a pain in the neck (sorry had to say it) because I was really looking forward to playing these shows, but the doctors have made it clear that this is not the kind of thing that can be put aside to deal with later."

No new release date for Hot Sauce Committee Part 1 has yet been set.
