Beams

"I Wanted to Tell Her"

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Feb 14, 2017

Beams kept us moving back in 2015 with cuts like "The Way We Run" and a cover of Kate Bush's "Running Up That Hill," and now the Toronto-based band are back with a brand new single.

Yes, "I Wanted to Tell Her" arrives on Valentine's Day, but the message of love preached in the song is one geared towards a fellow family member, rather than a romantic rendezvous.

"'I Wanted to Tell Her' is a narrative about growing up in a troubled home as an older sibling trying to protect a younger sibling from the pain of seeing what's happening to their family," the band tell Exclaim! "It's also about how you cope and get on with life in the outside world."

The dark twang and frantic pace of the tune was captured to tape by producer/mixer Ian Gomes (Hooded Fang, Fake Palms), and you can hear the final result down below.
