Bay Laurel

Where Pain Comes to Die

BY Greg PrattPublished Nov 1, 2000

Bay Laurel play depressing rock, I guess this is "goth rock." The band photo sums it all up nicely: four bleak blokes standing around on a dock, in front of some machinery, on a grey day, wearing all black and not looking happy at all. Although I'm fairly unversed in this kind of thing, Bay Laurel sound pretty similar to me to other bands that play this kind of thing. Sisters of Mercy and, on a more metal note, Paradise Lost's One Second album come to mind. I imagine it would sound really good late at night after a particularly cruddy day. It can't quite keep my attention fully, but it's still pretty well done and is powerful stuff.
