Bassnectar is facing a lawsuit involving claims of sex trafficking and possessing child pornography.

Tonight news broke that the EDM artist born Lorin Ashton is formally facing claims by two women — named Rachel and Alexis — who allege the DJ groomed them into having a sexual relationship while they were both minors, TMZ reports.

In 2020, Bassnectar issued a statement that he was "stepping back" from his music career after numerous accusations of sexual misconduct against him surfaced online. However, these are the first formal charges to be laid against the artist.

According to legal documents, the women allege Bassnectar contacted them via direct messenger to start a relationship while they were underage. They claim that after learning they were minors, he still sent them tickets to his shows, where he then allegedly invited them back to his hotel room for sex. The suit goes to on state the sex was "mandated [to] be without the use of a condom."

The suit claims the DJ paid the girls for sex, and he held control over them while instructing them to keep the relationships secret.

Both women claim he also encouraged them to watch the film American Beauty — described as "a movie about an older man having a relationship with a young girl."

In the suit, Rachel claims she was first contacted by Bassnectar in late 2012, and their sexual relationship began in May 2013 while she was still a minor. She alleges the DJ solicited her to "take and send sexually explicit photographs of herself while naked."

Alexis, meanwhile, states she was first contacted by the artist in 2014, while she was underage. The two then had a sexual relationship until 2016.

Both women are now suing Bassnectar damages and past and future emotional distress, as well as medical expenses, TMZ reports.

Bassnectar has yet to publicly comment on the newly filed lawsuit.
