The Barr Brothers Link Up with Secret City Records, Reissue Debut
Published Jul 22, 2011Atmospheric, Montreal-based folksters the Barr Brothers have been turning heads since they self-released their self-titled debut last year. Of the many fans the band have picked up are the people that run Canadian indie Secret City Records, who were so taken by the act that they'll be re-releasing the record this September.
The imprint will reissue The Barr Brothers on September 27. Recorded by the band in an old Montreal boiler room, the ten-song affair is said to be "an opus of beautiful folk, gut-busting blues and far-out African rhythms." You can check out the mellow, strummed acoustic number "Beggar In the Morning" below.
The band themselves are pretty stoked to have been picked up by the well-respected label.
"We couldn't be happier to be alongside such great artists and close friends as Patrick Watson & the Wooden Arms, Plants and Animals, Miracle Fortress, Basia Bulat and more," they posted on their website.
As if their fall weren't exciting enough, the troupe will be hitting the road with Timber Timbre and labelmate Watson for a quick trip around Quebec in October. Check out the details below.
