The Ballantynes Announce 'Liquor Store Gun Store Pawn Shop Church' EP, Share New Track

In what's surely one of the most literal combinations of an album title and cover artwork we've ever seen, Vancouver garage-soul ensemble the Ballantynes have just announced plans to release their EP Liquor Store Gun Store Pawn Shop Church on October 29 through La-Ti-Da Records.

This six-song collection follows a string of 7-inch singles, which also came out through La-Ti-Da. It was recorded with local producer Felix Fung (Mode Moderne, Shimmering Stars, Chains of Love). A press release describes this as being "a record about falling in love with mixed results." Hear the peppy retro-soul cut "No Love" at the bottom of this page.

The EP will be available in a run of 1,000 copies on 45 rpm 12-inch vinyl. See the tracklist below. The aforementioned literal artwork — which shows a liquor store, gun store, pawn shop and church — is above.

The band will play a release show on October 25 at the Astoria in Vancouver with Skinny Kids.
