Avril Lavigne has announced that a handful of dates on her Canadian Bite Me tour — her first headlining trek of her home country in a decade — have been postponed due to a positive COVID-19 case "within the tour," as well as "consequent exposures."

Lavigne took to Twitter just hours ahead of a scheduled performance in Laval, QC, yesterday (May 1) to break the news. "To my fans/friends in Laval, QC, Moncton, NB and Halifax, NS, we are sincerely sorry to let you know that we are postponing these shows due to a positive COVID case within the touring party," she wrote, adding: "I/we sincerely apologize and want you to know that this was not a decision we made lightly. We remain focused on everyone's safety and can't wait to see you all very soon."

The show at Place Bell has been rescheduled for this Saturday, May 7, while new dates for postponed stops in Moncton, NB, and Halifax, NS, are promised to follow shortly. As of press time, the tour is slated to pick back up as planned on May 6 in Quebec City.
