Remember when Run DMC and Aerosmith busted down the walls between rock and rap? Well, the new the album from Swedish producer Avicii seems to be shaping up to have a similar mandate, except with EDM in place of rap. His in-the-works album is slated to have a host of guest performers, many of whom come from the rock world.

An interview with Rolling Stone reveals that around 70 tracks are currently in the works, with contributors including Billie Joe Armstrong (on a tune called "No Pleasing a Woman"), System of a Down's Serj Tankian, Jon Bon Jovi and Coldplay's Chris Martin. As fans might remember, Avicii recently co-produced Coldplay's recent song "A Sky Full of Star."

The producer also known as Tim Bergling described Martin as being "like a brother," saying, "He needs every part to be perfect. I'm not like that. Which is why I've got 70 songs."

There's also a reggae duet featuring Wyclef Jean and Matisyahu. And while it's not confirmed which songs will be chosen for the final album, Avicii promises that it will downplay standard EDM beat-making in favour of something "a lot more song-oriented."

While we wait to hear more about the as-yet-untitled project, revisit "A Sky Full of Stars" below.
