Atriarch's Joe Wickstrom Launches Fundraiser to Help Pay for Mounting Medical Bills

A fundraising site has been started up to help pay the medical bills of Portland metal musician and Atriarch/Nether Regions member Joe Wickstrom, who is currently suffering from peripheral arterial disease.

A statement explains that Wickstrom was diagnosed in 2011. The illness is a circulatory disease in which narrowed arteries reduce blood flow to your limbs, causing pain in the extremities.

Since his diagnosis, Wickstrom has received an artificial graft to help keep blood flowing in one of his legs, but the graft was unsuccessful, forcing the musician in and out of the hospital for various surgeries. Additionally, he currently has to take daily blood draws and is on a number of medications, all of which he apparently cannot afford.

"Joe can barely afford to live and eat now. He's slipping behind financially, on a ton of medication, and sometimes having to choose between buying meds or food," the fundraisers' note reads. "We as a community cannot let this go on. We can help pull him out of this mess in a hurry. What he needs is about the same the average band needs to make a record."

If you're interested in helping out the metal musician, you can read more about his situation and donate to the cause over here.

Last year, the Exclaim! praised the "creepy ominousness" of Atriarch's Ritual of Passing.
