Published Oct 02, 2018Berlin-via-the-UK art-rock unit Art Brut recently teased a new album with a song called "Wham! Bang! Pow! Let's Rock Out!" — and it turns out that's exactly what their next record will be called, as well. It's due out on November 23 via Alcopop! Records.
The album was recorded with producer and folk musician Jim Moray, and the line-up features original bandmates Eddie Argos, Ian Catskilkin and Freddy Feedback, as well as Toby Macfarlaine on guitar and Charlie Clayton on drums.
The band has unveiled the album artwork, which was designed by Jim Avignon and is pictured above, as well as the full tracklisting, which can be found below.
They've also shared another track from the upcoming album, "Hospital!" along with an accompanying video.
It was written during a stint in a German hospital three years ago, in which frontman Argos found himself having a bigger and more complicated operation than expected.
"It was the most undignified month of my life and although I was very grateful to the surgeons for saving my life and also to the nurses for taking care of me, I despised every fucking minute of time I spent there," he said in a statement. "The only thing that kept me sane was the mantra that eventually became this song. Every single lyric was written and repeated over and over again as I suffered numerous indignities. Songwriting is something I've always used to alleviate stress and on this occasion I really tested it to its limits. What I am most impressed by is that even when I'm at death's door and pumped full of morphine, staggering around and collapsing all the time, I can still write a comical call-and-response backing vocal to amuse myself."
