Canadian indie rock acts Arkells and the Darcys both had big years in 2016, releasing Morning Report and Centrefold, respectively. But now, both groups' worlds have collided and combined to make for a brand new remix project.
The Darcys have done a rework of Arkells album cut "My Heart's Always Yours," adding their glitzy, glam-pop edge to the rock'n'roll ballad.
"We've been pals with the Darcys since we toured together in 2012 and have always admired their studio trickery," Arkells' Max Kerman tells Exclaim! "Their latest album is their best yet and it showcases their pop sensibilities like never before. It seems like the perfect time for them to remix our big ol ballad 'My Heart's Always Yours.' If this was 1999, there's a good chance you might hear this on Electric Circus. And that's pretty exciting to me."
As for the Darcys' inspiration for revamped rendition of the track, it was easy. "Our idea was simple," the duo tell Exclaim! "Get Arkells out of the beerhall and into the bedroom."

And that likely won't be the last version of the track that you hear — Arkells are encouraging fans to manipulate their own remixes, making the stems for the track readily available. Download them over here.
"We get a lot of requests for stems for our tunes from young music makers, so here they are," Kerman adds. "If dreams come true, you'll make this tune your own, and then film people dancing to it in a bar so we can watch."
