A$AP Rocky Avoids Assault Charges on Legal Technicality
Published Oct 17, 2013Over a month ago, Harlem rap fave A$AP Rocky was accused of allegedly slapping a female fan and was facing assault charges. Thus far, however, he has reportedly managed to avoid getting officially charged thanks to a legal technicality.
TMZ reports that, since police didn't witness the incident and it's a misdemeanour offence, accuser Lisa Wade was required file a private complaint. In order to do so, she had to give the district attorney the alleged perpetrator's address.
Wade apparently gave the DA the address for Rocky's record company and sent his charging document there via certified mail. But since the rapper wasn't there to sign them personally, the papers were sent back.
In order for Rocky to get officially charged, Wade is going to need to pin down Rocky to an address so that he can get formally served. Until then, it appears that he's off the hook.
Rocky hasn't emerged from the alleged incidentally entirely scot-free, however; last month he was axed from a concert at York University in Toronto when the Student Board of Directors learned of the case against the rapper.
