One of the most highly anticipated releases of the year has quickly become one of the most loved. Animal Collective's Merriweather Post Pavilion is finally out on all formats today - LP, CD and digitally - making it a pretty damn good time to announce a massive world tour. Yes, that's right: the AC have finally announced a whole pile of live dates in support of their latest opus and will be trekking across Europe, the U.S. and even Canada this year.
Following a few East coast U.S. dates this month, the band will head across the pond for a month-long jaunt in March before returning to North America this spring, playing Montreal on May 15, Toronto on May 16 and Vancouver on May 24. And while Animal Collective have become notorious for filling their live sets with new unreleased material, the group have said in several recent interviews that they're switching it up for a more traditional concert experience where they'll now be playing a lot of Merriweather tracks live, as well as some older ones.
In related news, Animal Collective have announced that "My Girls" will be the first Merriweather single and be out March 23 in the UK via Domino. There's no word, though, on whether any B-sides will be included.
