Angus Stone makes up one half of the Australian duo Angus & Julia Stone, but this year he's going solo with his album Broken Brights. Released under his own name, this collection comes out today (July 17) through Vancouver's Nettwerk Records, and you can stream the whole thing now at Exclaim.ca.
A press release notes that this album marks a change for Stone, and not just because he's flying solo. This self-produced collection draws on the songwriter's folk roots and also finds him incorporating strings and more rock-oriented arrangements as he shifts between various genres. These styles "[capture] memories and imaginings from [Stone's] pilgrimage around the planet."
