Slaves On Dope might have been a selling point a decade ago but with the progression of musical tastes comes the alienation of genre-specific musicians. Basically, just because some of your members were in a modestly popular band during the rap metal burp in music history doesnt mean your new band are poised for success. And thats not just because of the stigma attached to anything from Korns most lucrative days. Its because most of those bands are so mired in that wanky, dated seven-string guitar sound over mid-tempo drums that it will inevitably taint everything they touch. That said, now you know what Rise sounds like: distilled Coal Chamber with more clean/melodic bridges, false angst and members sporting more mascara than a drag queen party. Blandness would call this stuff insipid.
