Android Lust

'Berlin' (album stream)

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Aug 16, 2017

Android Lust is the electronic project of Shikhee D'iordna, who has been creating music under that moniker since 1996. Her latest effort arrives this week as Berlin — the second instalment of her Crater series — and Exclaim! is giving you an exclusive advance listen to the album in its entirety.

Berlin was particularly inspired by the titular German city, marking the follow-up to 2010's The Human Animal — "my New York record," as D'iordna describes it. She immersed herself in the city for a few weeks in 2015, visiting museums, studios and abandoned buildings, recording audio at every step along the way. Some tracks reference specific architecture ("Heart Tunnel," "Plaza Steps"), while others focus more on human experience ("Daughters of Dawn," "Madness in Men").

Compiled together, the 10-song offering presents a snapshot of her experiences in Berlin, and you can share in that sonic interpretation of the city by streaming the new record below.

Berlin officially arrives on August 18. Pre-order it here.
