Andrew W.K. Releasing Album of Instrumental Piano Compositions, Touring North America with String Quartet

Only Andrew W.K. could go from a wildly violent children's show and a split seven-inch with Nardwuar the Human Serviette to releasing an instrumental record of modern classical piano improvisations. But that's exactly what he's doing.

Titled 55 Cadillac, W.K.'s piano record will be dropping via his newly minted Skyscraper Music Maker imprint. It will be out on September 8, and features this hilariously corny cover art.

Along with the album, W.K. will be touring his piano works with the Calder Quartet, a group of string musicians he previously performed with at New York's Wordless Music series late last year. As a five-piece, the musicians will swing across North America this fall, including a stop at Toronto's St. Paul's Trinity Church on October 4.

Oh, and just in case all this wasn't weird enough for you, the album seems to revolve around some sort of car theme. Seriously, just look at the tracklisting.

55 Cadillac:

1. "Begin the Engine"

2. "Seeing the Car"

3. "Night Driver"

4. "Central Park Cruiser"

5. "5"

6. "City Time"

7. "Car Nightmare"

8. "Cadillac"
