Alexisonfire Rule the "Indies”

Emo darlings Alexisonfire led the way taking home two awards (Favourite Group and Favourite Album) at the seventh annual Independent Music Awards on March 7. Kicking off Canadian Music Week with a headlining performance by the Stills, the inDiscover.net-presented ceremony recognised the best in Canadian independent music. Other winners on the night included Cadence Weapon (Favourite Urban Artist), Malajube (Favourite Francophone Artist), the Sadies (Favourite Folk/Roots Artist), Cancer Bats (Favourite Metal Artist) and Tokyo Police Club, who took home the coveted Galaxie Rising Stars Award. Global nods went to Arctic Monkeys for Favourite International Album and Wolfmother, who are not only signed to a major (shouldn’t that disqualify them?) but also managed to squeeze in an appearance, raising suspicion over the validity of their victory.
