Alexisonfire Return With New Album in the Summer

BY Keith CarmanPublished Apr 2, 2009

Can history repeat itelf? We'll find out this summer when St. Catharines, ON's Alexisonfire release their fourth full-length effort, Old Crows/Young Cardinals via Dine Alone Records. It's slated to hit store shelves on the not-very-informative date of "early summer 2009." As precise as that sounds, don't set your watch just yet.

So what's the repeating part? Well, the band's third opus, 2006's Crisis, was a major hit. Not only did it garner the fresh-faced, aggressive boys a Juno but it debuted in the #1 slot on the Top 200 Canadian Soundscan chart upon its release and went on to sell platinum.

Of course, not to pick on Alexisonfire but that was when record sales were only hovering above the toilet, not underwater waiting to be sucked down the drain. Maybe this will be the album to deive sales back up again.

Anyway, the details: the recording of Old Crows/Young Cardinals was split between Vancouver's Armoury Studios (with famed producer Nick Blagona at the helm) and Hamilton's Silo Recordings. It's co-produced by Alexisonfire, alongside Julius "Juice" Butty, who produced their previous two efforts.
