Albert React

Confluence and Scrapes

BY Sam SutherlandPublished May 1, 2004

Though their sound may borrow a little too heavily from bands like Thursday and their ilk, Albert React have still managed to create a solid album with Confluence and Scrapes. While there is no denying the influence of certain bands on this Pennsylvania five-piece, there is also no escaping the fact that what they have created on this album is still compelling and immensely listenable. From the driving opener "Breathe,” to the slow-building emotion of "The Same Things From Different Lips,” all the songs contained here possess their own unique musical personality, differentiating themselves from one and other through the specific emotions attached to each. From the delicate and careful layering of guitars, to the emotional release of the passionate vocal delivery, Confluence and Scrapes manages to succeed where you might expect it to falter.
