Adult. Get Michael Gira, Dorit Chrysler for Collaborative Album Experiment

Detroit duo Adult. have revealed plans to invite a series of musicians into their home to prep a followup to 2013's The Way Things Fall. Swans' Michael Gira, Dorit Chrysler and Nitzer Ebb's Douglas J. McCarthy are among those expected to swing by Adult.'s pad to put together the deliciously pun-tastic Detroit House Guests.

A press release explains that the group's Adam Lee Miller and Nicola Kubera will be bringing six collaborators into their downtown Detroit home over the course of the next seven months, with plans to put together an album that "resonates with a spirit of Detroit." Participants include Gira, Chrysler, McCarthy, Light Asylum's Shannon Funchess, Lichens' Robert Aiki Aubrey Lowe, and Lun*na Menoh (Les Sewing Sisters, Jean Paul Yamamoto, Seksu Roba).

The project, which is receiving support from John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, also serves as a proper introduction to the Motor City, apparently, with Adult. set to give their guests "a comprehensive tour of the city, a welcoming party with local artists and musicians," and the opportunity to play a local show, if desired. Throughout this, the band will be uploading updates and shared experiences over social media.

A statement explains that Adult. believe the process behind making Detroit House Guests will "provide a rich experience for each musician and will bring favourable attention to Detroit and its cultural heritage."

With the first TBA guest set to arrive at Adult.'s place later this month, it's unclear just when the album will hit stores, but Ghostly International expects it should come out in late 2015/early 2016.
