As previously reported, Talking Heads leader and multifaceted solo artist David Byrne is planning to pay tribute to colour guard dance troupes with two shows called Contemporary Color. Taking place in Brooklyn and Toronto, the shows will feature performances by colour guard teams that are soundtracked by beloved musicians.

Today, we've learned that the lineup has expanded a little, with Ad-Rock and Money Mark of the Beastie Boys added to the lineup, along with rising Brooklyn act Lucius. They'll join St. Vincent, Devonté Hynes (Blood Orange), tUnE-yArDs, Nico Muhly, Ira Glass, How to Dress Well, Kelis and Nelly Furtado, along with David Byrne himself, at the event.

The Toronto edition of Contemporary Color will take place at the Air Canada Centre on June 22 and 23 as part of Luminato. Then, the series will move to Brooklyn for shows at the Barclays Center on June 27 and 28 in association with BAM.

In a press release, Byrne said that colour guard teams have "created a vibrant, innovative and original vernacular artform that is wildly popular across the whole North American continent, but is all but unknown in many of the big urban centres — like New York, where I live. Contemporary Color aims to remedy that situation."
