The Acorn Return with No Ghost

Ottawa, ON-based collective the Acorn have been working hard since gracing our cover way back in 2007. The band began touring non-stop, bringing their anthemic, folk-tinged indie rock across the globe. Then, in the summer of 2009, they started working on their third proper album, a record that will finally see the light of day this summer.

The album is called No Ghost, and was created in a cottage in northern Quebec. According to a press release, the album "features the levity and spontaneity reminiscent of the Acorn's infamous live shows, all the while showcasing Rolf Klausener's literate and vivid lyrics." The write-up continues by offering up comparisons to Talk Talk, Yo La Tengo and Crazy Horse, adding that the record was "crafted from hazy late-night improvisations and early morning melodies pulled from the thinning threads of sleep."

No Ghost will be released by Paper Bag Records on June 1. A full tracklisting and some teaser tracks are expected to be revealed shortly.

Hopefully, Kanye is down with this one.
