Acid House Kings

Music Sounds Better With You

BY Michael EdwardsPublished Mar 22, 2011

In the world of Sweden's Acid House Kings, it always sounds like everything is lovely. Their particular brand of sunny indie pop has an infectious happiness that has made their previous albums a joy to listen to. So it's not surprising that they haven't messed around too much with that formula on Music Sounds Better With You. That said, the trio do challenge themselves a little on their much-delayed fifth album. There are still plenty of moments of string-laden lushness, and lots of wonderful boy-girl harmonies that are the aural equivalent of the sweetest honey, but they also shake things up with some buzzing guitars that give them an edge they haven't had before. Granted, that's a relative amount of edge, but it works for them. There's nothing to complain about because after all these years, Acid House Kings do know how to write cracking pop songs and that's all that matters. This is another great album from the kings of the Swedish indie pop scene.
