A Perfect Circle's Billy Howerdel Readies Debut Solo Album 'What Normal Was'

Billy Howerdel has announced his debut solo album. The co-founding guitarist of A Perfect Circle will deliver What Normal Was on June 10 via Alchemy Recordings/Rise Records/BMG.

The 10-song What Normal Was marks Howerdel's first solo statement under his given name, having previously released Keep Telling Myself It's Alright as Ashes Divide in 2008. It's previewed by "Poison Flowers," a single that arrives alongside a video you can find below, directed by Rizz of LA-based death pop duo VOWWS.

"This is me stepping back into my early teen self and making the record I would've made if I had the means and the knowledge when I first picked up a guitar — just in 2022," Howerdel shares of his latest. "It's that moment as a kid when you hear a record, close your eyes, and go somewhere else. That was the time I found my lane, so to speak."

Howerdel will also take What Normal Was on tour around North America this June and July, with a pair of performances lined up for Canada.

Following a July 1 show alongside Puscifer, led by his APC bandmate Maynard James Keenan, Howerdel will play Toronto's Axis Club on July 2 before a night at Montreal's Café Campus on July 3.

Tickets for Howerdel's headlining dates go on sale April 29 at 10 a.m. local time, with further info available via the artist's official website.

Howerdel and A Perfect Circle last released Eat the Elephant in 2018.
