3 Na Massa 3 Na Massa

Global cosmopolitan mash-up bar/label Nublus latest move goes way outside their local New York neighbourhood, travelling all the way to Sao Paolo to taste that citys cultural fusion. 3 Na Massa are very consistent with the Nublu aesthetic. This disc takes from bossa, French chanson, loads of electronics, dub and surf music to create a very original, highly colourful kind of down-tempo. This is the Brazil often represented on Six Degrees and Crammed Discs: evocative of the 60s, ganja-friendly and bourgeois slinky rather than carioca funky. The ride is smooth but engaging despite a few blind alleys where pretentious "out keyboards demonstrate a tongue too firmly buried in cheek, such as the cowboy samba dub of "Tatui. Vocalist Céu continues her progression into one of the most interesting vocalists in Brazil, bringing far more than just a sexy purr to each song in which shes featured. This is bound to find its way into the most discerning global living rooms.
