Disgraced comedian Chris D'Elia has been slashed from in his role in Zack Snyder's newest film, Army of the Dead. Even though the film has already finished shooting, Snyder has enlisted actor/comedian Tig Notaro to take his place.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, part of the zombie/heist movie will now have to be reshot as a result. Due to ongoing gathering restrictions because of COVID-19, Notaro will be incorporated in the film using a combination of techniques, including green screens and CGI.
D'Elia's replacement comes after accusations of grooming and sexual misconduct with underage girls were lodged against him back in June. Following the allegations, D'Elia was dropped by his talent agency and removed from a 2011 Workaholics episode, in which he played a pedophile.
Army of the Dead had yet to receive an official release date before its recasting, and now at this rate, it's likely that the Netflix production won't make its way to streaming until at least next year.
An official synopsis of the film reads: "Following a zombie outbreak in Las Vegas, a group of mercenaries take the ultimate gamble, venturing into the quarantine zone to pull off the greatest heist ever attempted."
Army of the Dead will also star Dave Bautista, Ella Purnell, Ana De La Reguera, Theo Rossi, Huma Qureshi, Omari Hardwick, Hiroyuki Sanada, Garret Dillahunt, Matthias Schweighöfer, Raúl Castillo, Nora Arnezeder and Samantha Win.
