Over the years, we've heard the inspiring origin story of world-renowned tennis sisters Venus and Serena Williams from their perspectives. Now, we're seeing it through the lens of their father, played by Will Smith, in the upcoming biopic King Richard.

In a newly released trailer, the film, directed by Reinaldo Marcus Green, follows Richard Williams (Smith) and details how he coached the Compton-raised sisters who ended up changing the tennis game. It highlights their lives on the court and how they grew to become global tennis icons.

As the sisters' careers take off in a sport dominated by white people, the trailer shows the resilience and determination their father had in order to ensure his daughters were incredible tennis players and understood their power. "You're not just gonna be representing you, you're gonna be representing every little Black girl on Earth," Smith's Williams tells the young girls in the trailer.

Venus and Serena Williams also serve as executive producers on the film, which, according to a press release, aims to show "the power of family, perseverance and unwavering belief as a means to achieve the impossible and impact the world."

In addition to Smith, the film stars Aunjanue Ellis as Oracene "Brandi" Williams, Saniyaa Sidney as Venus Williams, Demi Singleton as Serena Williams, and Tony Goldwyn as coach Paul Cohen.

King Richard is set to hit theatres on November 19 through Warner Bros. Pictures. Watch the trailer below.
