Whether at the longtime location on Yonge Street or its current home on Spadina Avenue, long-running Toronto music store Play De Record has served experienced selectors and budding vinyl enthusiasts alike for over three decades. Now, its illustrious history will be explored in a new documentary.

Drop the Needle will chronicle the impact Play De Record has had on Canadian music over the past 30 years. A teaser trailer, which you can find below, features recollections from ownership, employees and crate-digging clientele past and present.

The film stars Skratch Bastid, Kardinal Offishall, Denise Benson, Russell Peters, Nick Holder, Saukrates, DJ Mel Boogie, JD Era, Mastermind, Starting from Scratch, David 'Click' Cox, Aki Abe, Jason Palma, owner Eugene Tam and family, and many more.

Drop the Needle was directed by Rob Freeman and was co-produced by Neil Acharya. The film, which has yet to receive a release date, will arrive through Canterbury Productions.
