Published Mar 29, 2020Since their mandatory period of quarantine has now ended after contracting coronavirus several weeks ago, Tom Hanks and his wife Rita Wilson have returned to the United States from Australia, where they are again practising self-isolation to avoid the spread of COVID-19.
Late yesterday (March 28), Hanks confirmed their arrival to the States, tweeting, "We're home now and like the rest of America, we carry on with sheltering in place and social distancing."
The couple also gave thanks to Australia for taking care of them while the endured the virus, as well as their fans for providing messages of hope and well wishes.
Hanks and Wilson were released from hospital on March 15 and spent the last few weeks in isolation at their Queensland home. Hanks was originally in Australia for filming on Baz Luhrmann's upcoming Elvis Presley biopic, in which he plays Presley's manager. Production on the film has been halted.
