Paul King already destroyed Orson Welles with his extremely critically acclaimed Paddington 2, so it only makes sense that he'd move on to a new challenge. And honestly, this next project sounds like one hell of a challenge: he's making a Willy Wonka origin story with indie movie heart throb Timothée Chalamet.
Deadline first reported the news that Chalamet will star as the titular character in the upcoming Warner Bros. flick Wonka. Sources told the publication that there will also be plenty of singing and dancing in the film, allowing Chalamet to show off his musical theatre skills.
The current version of the screenplay was written by King alongside Simon Farnaby, though the script has also seen previous versions written by Simon Rich, Simon Stephenson, Jeff Nathanson and Steven Levenson.
There's no release window announced just yet, though we should all start normalizing the idea of a Wonka Chalamet now.
