This year marks the 50th anniversary of the September 8, 1966 premiere of a little TV show called Star Trek. To celebrate, the Canadian Mint has made a delta-shaped Star Trek coin.
The coin, viewable above, is made from 99.99 per cent pure gold, and is shaped like the Starfleet insignia. It comes housed in a fancy box. It can be yours for a hefty $1,300.
Don't worry, though — the coin is not merely a showpiece. It's actually legal tender, and is worth $200. We're not sure how it'd stack up at a laundromat, but you could use a couple of these coins to buy yourself a Star Trek box set.
