This Old Navy Commercial Just Ruined One of the Kids from 'Stranger Things'

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Nov 18, 2016

We all know the child cast members of Stranger Things are totally awesome and bad-ass on the show — and pretty cool at awards shows and in music videos (and other music videos) too. But it seems the first major misstep by one of the talented youngsters has been made by Gaten Matarazzo (a.k.a. Dustin), and Old Navy is to blame.

He stars in a new commercial for the clothing company's upcoming Black Friday sales, but unlike the endearingly nostalgic nods to the past in Stranger Things, the ad is a horrifying homage to Technotronic's 1989 hit "Pump Up the Jam."

Unfortunately, no responsible adult stopped him from making the embarrassing career move, and his co-star Millie Bobby Brown apparently didn't impart any of her hip-hop cred onto him because he rhymes "cola" with "guacamol-a."

Old Navy has long been known for roping celebrities in to its cheesy advertising campaigns, but it's a shame they had to mar the Stranger Things winning streak with this one. Check out the commercial and a behind-the-scenes video about it down below.
