There's a Tragically Hip Shrine in 'LOL: Last One Laughing Canada'

Jay Baruchel's lodge is decked out with Hip merch

The comedy franchise LOL: Last One Laughing has come to Canada, with host Jay Baruchel overseeing a cast of homegrown comedy heroes who crack jokes while trying to keep a straight face. As if the presence of Tom Green, Andrew Phung, Mae Martin and Dave Foley weren't already Canadian enough, the show features an extra Canuck twist: a shrine for the Tragically Hip.

The shrine is found in the "lodge," the wood-lined den in which Baruchel hangs out while overseeing the contest. In the place of honour, right behind Baruchel's couch, are a few Hip curios. This includes a "Welcome to Saskadelphia" wooden sign, a Tragically Hip leather jacket, and a yellow device similar to the one on the Phantom Power album cover. There's also a Tragically Hip concert poster over on the other side of the room — and possibly some other merch we haven't even spotted yet.

The shrine appears to be officially endorsed by the band, since the Hip posted about it on Twitter.

Additionally, each episode of LOL ends with the Hip's "Poets."

The show premiered last month and recently wrapped up. The entire show is streaming now on Amazon Prime. Read our review here.
