There Was a "Worst Case Ontario" Category on 'Jeopardy!' Last Night

Clearing through that category like a clearing stick

While some people complain that Ontario is the most "American" of the provinces — whatever that means — the province home to Canada's capital got its flowers on Monday night's episode of Jeopardy! (January 30).

Aptly named "Worst Case Ontario" (an ode to Trailer Park Boys), the category tested the contestants' knowledge of Ontarian landmarks, sports and basic geography. Contestant Sam Meehan kicked off the episode by guessing the $1,000 question correctly: "Zombies (& not the slow ones) are making their way from Detroit to this city across the Ambassador Bridge." What is Windsor, of course!

One of the other questions asked about the rivalry between the Ottawa Senators and the "provincial capital NHLers," with a contestant incorrectly answering with "the Flames" before Meehan correctly guessed the Toronto Maple Leafs. Before you try to give Meehan honourary Canadian status, he fumbled the bag later in the episode by naming Saskatchewan as the province just west of Ontario. Manitoba isn't real, don't you know?

The final Ontario question was "Worst case? Ill-tempered aquatic creatures emerge from this Great Lake upon which Thunder Bay sits," with contestant Jake DeArruda correctly guessing "Lake Superior."

We personally think this category would be better if Jeopardy! champ Mattea Roach were still competing — or if Alex Trebek were still with us. Check out screens of the Worst Case Ontario questions below.
