As Gord Downie's Twitter account continues its mysterious countdown, the Tragically Hip will be commemorated with a new film screening event hosted by Cineplex. Movie theatres across the country will be screening The Tragically Hip: The Ultimate Double Feature, which will present two Tragically Hip films back-to-back starting September 18.

The double feature will screen Long Time Running, the 2017 documentary chronicling the band's final tour, followed by A National Celebration, the concert film of that tour's (and the band's) final show, which took place in the Hip's hometown on Kingston, Ontario, on August 20, 2016.

The screenings will be held at 61 Cineplex-owned movie theatres throughout all provinces except for P.E.I. Cineplex has detailed policies for limiting the spread of COVID-19 at their theatres, including reserve-only seating, reduced capacities in all theatres and routine sanitizing of surfaces.

The screenings come at a time when COVID-19 cases in Canada are rising in multiple provinces, including British Columbia, Alberta, Manitoba, Ontario and Quebec, according to CTV News, with several of those provinces having recent reported their highest numbers of new infections in months.
