'The Simpsons' Renewed for Two More Seasons

BY Josiah HughesPublished Nov 4, 2016

Long after you die, when your existence is but a blip in the memories of your ancestors, they will probably still be making new episodes of The Simpsons. The infinite, omnipresent pop culture force has just been renewed for an additional two seasons.

The show will continue to exist for Season 29 and Season 30, bringing its total number of episodes up to 669.

That means The Simpsons will officially be the longest ever scripted prime time television show in American history, beating out the weaklings at Gunsmoke who only created a measly 635 episodes.

As of now, that means The Simpsons will remain on the air until 2019. Assuming Harry Shearer doesn't fuck things up, the show will probably go on forever.
