Having changed their name earlier this month, the Halluci Nation have now shared that they have contributed music to new sitcom Rutherford Falls.
Alongside David Schwartz, the duo of Tim "2oolman" Hill and Ehren "Bear Witness" Thomas (f.k.a. A Tribe Called Red) are co-composers on the comedic series, which premiered last night (April 22) in the United States on streaming service Peacock.
"So happy to be a part of a landmark show like this one," the duo wrote in sharing the news on Twitter. "Not only is this a top-notch comedy, it's also a showcase of Indigenous talent that has rarely been seen before."
Created by Ed Helms, Michael Schur and Sierra Teller Ornelas, Rutherford Falls follows lifelong friends Nathan Rutherford (Helms) and Reagan Wells (Jana Schmieding), who find themselves at a literal crossroads when their small town gets an unexpected wake-up call.
The series marks the first television comedy with a Native American showrunner in Teller Ornelas, who has previously worked as a producer on Brooklyn Nine-Nine and a writer and co-executive producer on Superstore.
Teller Ornelas had shared news of the Halluci Nation's involvement in a New York Times profile earlier this week, speaking to the importance of Native and Indigenous talent filling off-camera roles, in addition to Indigenous characters in the main cast.
Rutherford Falls will premiere in Canada on April 29 through Showcase, with back-to-back episodes at 8 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. ET. The series also stars Canadians Michael Greyeyes (I Know This Much Is True) and Dustin Milligan (Schitt's Creek).
